The Disapearances of Native Gnome Populations and Climate Change

Michael Andrews | April 4th, 2026

It's painfully obvious to the old-head gnomesters in the community that gnomes just arent around as much. I've seen many papers in journals discussing the effects of climate change on insect pollinators and bonobos monkeys, so I understand when people come up to me and ask "well what if gnomes are being effected by this?" To which I say an emphatic NO! My in the field research would argue that the loss in gnome biodiversity and gnome populations in general is not signifiganly influenced by the changing climate. If anything a warmer climate should be a boon to gnomes as it should expand their breeding season and eliminate major preditors like the dragonfly and the common fir tree. Yet still gnomes are in decline and worse the IUCN, WWF, and USFWS, refuse to add gnomes and their many ilk as an endangered species. I've tried to seek funding to discover the cause of their peril, but to no avail. Currently my theories involve microplastics? If anyone is willing to fund a study into their favorite spritely friends please shoot me an email at MichaelAndrews@TASG.org I have a lot of free time right now.

TASG Updates! Potentially shifting to more online stuff?

Dr. Anne Scott | April 1st, 2026

After the rule change headquarters has quieted down a bit and as such has freed up some of our time. So far the plan is to move our operations online using this site as a home base. Rich has spoken with the board about focusing more on the media side of our work and the general mood has agreed with him. You should be hearing a lot more from us now. Gnoming as a hobby and the information related to it will remain up and easily accessable, but we're going to be cutting funding for our gnoming projects. If you are someone who benefits from one of these programs please get in contact with us and we can help you find a different source of funding.

Project Cobbler has been nose to the grindstone for weeks. I almost never see Dr. May these days but it will all be worth it.

Acknowledging Our Misdoings

Dr. Anne Scott | March 1st, 2026

This is your update for March and for all those months we missed. Do not worry the society's commitment to bringing gnoming information to the net is still our priority. As you are likely aware there was some drama regarding heated discussions of the gnomes. It is TASG policy that members are allowed to debate gnomes their existance and the philisophical ramifications of gnomes in history so we did not step in. The chairman of the society has admitted that we could have taken action and did not. We send out our deepest appologies and well wishings to the family of Mr. Andrews. Going forward escalations like this will result in expulsion from the society, and being barred from our physical locations.

In other news the Endowment for Gnomes in Media and Culture has doubled in budget thanks to generious new members. Our Las Vegas division is reporting that he has signed a deal with Caesar's Palace for a new line of slot machines featuring our spritely fellows. Project Cobbler is still underway but Dr. May showed me an incredible prototype. I think you'll love it when it's ready.
